This week we had our first crop from the plot. Radishes and rocket salad.
We got quite a bit of Cress http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_cress already from our sowing trays. This must be one the easiest things to grow, and it tastes really nice in salads and sandwiches. It takes about 7-10 days from sowing to harvesting.
We planted out some 30 lettuces http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lettucefrom the seed tray out to the plot. We first sowed them 16Apr. The plot was double dug, and 3-4 wheelbarrows full of compost were mixed with the heavy clay.
We also prepared one of our plots to plant out the tomato and pepper plants we bought last week.
We had some nice weather, aproximately 20C I guess.
The courgettes were getting a bit too big for the little green houses we were using. We have replanted them in yogurt cups. Next time their destination will be our plot. First sowed on 14Apr.
By today our seedlings look like this. You can see the courgette seedlings in the middle towards the bottom of the photo.
