Lettuce and rocket

Sowed Lettuce (Australian and American leaf lettuce - Horti Tops) and and Rocket (Semillas Batlle) today. A very sunny and rainy day at the same time.

Planting in- and outdoors

Planted out some of the pea seedlings. They grew very quickly as a result of the nice weather.

Sowed Lavender, basil, thyme, strawberries, courgette and cucumber. For now they need a bit of protection and I have sown them in the seed trays I bought last year.

Cleaned up some of the raised beds.

Beetroot and spinach

Sowed a couple of rows of spinach and two rows of beetroot today. First time I try these. Let's see how it goes.

The peas I sowed during the last two weeks are starting to germinate.

Last two weeks we had warm weather for the season.

Update. I took this picture a couple of weeks later. Spinach is coming along fine, no sign of beetroot though. How about those leeks...

Peas

Planted 9 pea seeds 10 Feb, will plant another 18 seeds 24 Feb.

Variety Alderman, Mascarell Semillas, Valencia. Bought in Grado 2007.

Very dry weather, cold during the early morning, warming up until approximately 15-18C.

Built some support for them as well.

Planted Savoy cabbage

Planted two variaties, 6 x Penca, 6 x Berza. Plants bought in Llana CB, Llanera.

Planting onions and garlic

Planted aproximately 100 onions today. Bought in Grado's nursery. Also planted out about 10 small garlic bulbs.

Planting leaks

Planted about a 100 leaks today in plot 1. Plants bought in Grado's Sunday market.

Neighbours

We found out someone moved in. Seems mother and child(ren) are doing well.



The weather has taken a turn for the worse. Currently we are stuck at 16 degrees at midday.

Courgette soup

We have the beginnings of a great tasting soup. The two photos on the left are of 18 June, the one on the right was taken the 27th of June.

Took this photo yesterday, by today all six plants carry flowers, at least one each.

Good weather

Even the weeds are having a good time with all the sun and rain.

Our veg garden by June 9th

The lettuce is growing strong, as are our courgettes. We had some days with lots of heat and rain.

Out: Radish In: Butterhead Lettuce and Onions

We already planted out some of the plants in the beginning of May.

We have been eating quite of bit of Radish and Rucula, so we have some space to plant out some more Lettuce and Onions.

Nice warm weather, I guess about 20C.

I will definately sow some more Radish! They tasted great. Photo of 1st of June.


The Cucumber plants are doing great, I think next week we will be able to plant them out.

Courgettes, peppers and tomatoes

For now our last additions before we plant out the cucumbers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucumber.

The end result looks promissing. The courgettes grew really quickly during this warm week, so they we ready to plant out. The rest of the plants were bought, and needed planting out as well.



They are on their own now.

Onions ahoy

We planted the onions we bought last Sunday. We planted some 50 of them.



We'll plant another 50 in the plot that is now planted up with radishes, carrots and rocket salad.

First crop

This week we had our first crop from the plot. Radishes and rocket salad.


We got quite a bit of Cress http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_cress already from our sowing trays. This must be one the easiest things to grow, and it tastes really nice in salads and sandwiches. It takes about 7-10 days from sowing to harvesting.

Prepare for onions

Lots of wind today. I guess winds of above 100km/h. We tried to protect our red currants http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redcurrant and raspberries http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry as best as we could.

We double dug another small plot to plant out the onions we bought today.

As it was sunny, we had pretty decent temperatures.
